An unexpected hope that will be fulfilled ❤

Sri Lankan culture is more diverse than other countries. Various sri lankan arts are popular all over the world. The contribution of local dance to the vibrant sri lankan culture is immense. There are three dance traditions like kandyan dance, low country dance and sabaragamuwa dance tradition. These dance traditions are perfected by each other's unique identity.

These sri lankan dance traditions include a cultural ceremony called "kalaeli mangalyaya". It is a ceremony where an apprentice who is studying dance is socialized as a dancer after mastering the dance and drumming. This is an event to showcase the talents of students for the first time officially as well as for the senior students to show what they have learnt.

Based on the knowledge of our teacher , she looks at the birth chart and prepares for the ceremony.

Before this dance ceremony , everyone should worship the deity and remain vegetarian for at least one month. Rituals are also performed by engaging in religious rites before the ceremony.

Wearing of costumes and headdresses is done according to auspicious time. I felt a great sense of pride at the time of wearing the all these things from the low country dance tradition. There are no words to describe the happiness I felt.

The wearing of costumes and headdresses as well as the wearing of low country masks are done according to the auspicious time along with religious rituals. It was a very strange experience. I wore the "Nagakanya" mask for the auspicious.

As a new dancer, we were first brought the dance floor covered with a white sheet. We also broke a pot of water a coconut to get rid of the poison. I did that ritual with my mother and husband.

Mrs. Nilakshi De alwis gave me the skills to study low country dance. She is the one who organized this low country dance ceremony. I think that no one can organize such a dance ceremony as strongly as her. At that moment we worship her and gave to her some gifts. She looked at us very proudly

Worship was also done remembering the virtues of the parents. My mother worked hard to bring me this far. At that moment , I saw mother's eyes filled with tears and there was happiness on her face. My mother was very excited to see my low country dance ceremony. Her dream also came true that day.

In addition to this, the dances "dummala padaya"  , "kothala padaya" , "Nagakanya dance" , "paththini dance"  and "Thelme dance" were also performed in my low country dance ceremony. I felt so proud when I put on each of those dance costumes. All of us, eleven girls, were at the ceremony that day.. Those memories will always be remembered.

This day is the most memorable day in my life.
